About the event

Late Summer is the time of year for bringing nourishment and stability to body, mind and spirit.

In traditional Chinese Medicine, the season of Late Summer and the Earth element correlate

with nourishing the body and bringing balance to our digestion. Mother Earth helps to ground

us, she recycles our stuff, she cares without conditions, and she provides us with the nutrients

we need.

Join Val for a special two hour Kripalu Yin Yoga workshop honoring Mother Earth and

grounding ourselves at this transitional time of year.

In this workshop you will:

  • Explore Yin Yoga postures that open up the energy channels that bring comfort and wholeness for Late Summer.
  •  Learn about the Stomach and Spleen meridians that support digestion and transformation in all aspects of your being.
  •  Experience long passive holdings at your “edge”, while gently honing in on the connective tissue, bones and joints.
  • Slow down and step away from your busy (yang) lives. Take time for self-reflection and journaling with a lovely supportive group of people.

Kripalu Yin Yoga is a practice of compassionate mindfulness, self discovery and

transformation.  It focuses on paying attention, letting go, and developing the witness to

whatever comes up in the physical body, mental body, emotions and breath. With this

understanding we can create harmony and balance in all areas of our lives.

Val Boyko E-RYT500, YACEP

Val is an advanced level Kripalu Yoga teacher, who teaches Gentle Yoga, Yin and Restorative Yoga.

Whether you want to discover the benefits of yoga in midlife or beyond, are seeking a relaxing

mindful practice to reduce stress and connect with your inner self, or are coming back to yoga

after an illness or injury, Val offers classes and individual guidance for healing and taking care of

your needs.

Val started yoga in her 40’s for her physical well being, without realizing how much the practice of

yoga would transform not only her body, but her mind and spirit as well!

Val discovered that through yoga, she became stronger, healthier, more confident, calmer and

more loving in all areas of her life. Yoga has been there for her in the ups and downs of life and

continues to be an inspiration and a practice that brings connection, acceptance and joy. This is

what she wants for each person who comes to her class.

Val has an easy teaching style that brings wisdom and a sense of lightness to her classes. When

you meet Val you will also notice that her Scottish accent adds a special soothing quality to her

teaching.

In her leisure time Val enjoys being in nature, gardening, traveling, blogging, and looking after two

Welsh Terriers with her hubby Don.
